I would like to highlight the excellent educational campaign that the church located in the corner of Chestnut St. and Third Avenue in Roselle, New Jersey, is currently doing. Every morning, on my way to work, I enjoy reading the messages they write at the front of the church. I found out that they renew their words every two weeks. They choose the phrases carefully and print them according to our modern time. These are some of them:
“iPhone, Ipad, I pray” This phrase impacted me. A church must be updated throughout the years because technology is moving pretty fast. This is a great way to capture the attention of young and adult people following the unique technology moment that everyone is living. Instead of demonizing it, they link it with the necessity of the human being to communicate with God.
I remember another one: “If you have any questions about God, text 908-444-4444” (I created an imaginary number because I never wrote it down). They’ve adapted the reflections with this age. They know that people are using a lot of text messages to communicate their thoughts.
It is fantastic to find these messages that try to impact everybody. This is attraction marketing: attracts attention and arouses the desire to go to church. Let’s get behind drawer quotes and sermons that never capture our attention because now a day, everyone needs to adapt himself to the new era; that is true to the churches as well. The churches should improve their speeches to increase their parishioners and to get some changes in their communities. My curiosity may have exceeded the limit. Finally, I will go to this church.
